     Miles fired at the creature, desperate to protect his family. The first shot pinged off it's shoulder. The second bounced off it's face. Before he could fire again it had slammed into him, knocking him backwards toward the window. He backed up until he felt the glass behind him. Out of the corner of his eye he could see that Mina had gotten the children out safely. He fired at the creature, drawing it's attention to himself. The creature ran at him, knocking him against the window. Miles felt sharp pieces of glass cutting into his back as he fell. He hit the ground and blacked out.

     Mina raced into the lobby with a child in each arm. She yelled to the woman at the desk. "Sound the fire alarm or something! Everyone needs to get out of this building now!"
  "Patience is a virtue." The woman (who was Gorast) replied with a taunting tone. "That and you didn't say the magic word."
  Mina stared her in the eye for a moment, then vaulted over the desk and pushed Gorast away from the computer. She quickly set off the building's fire alarm. She turned around to reprimand Gorast. The sudden sound of shoe soles on a wet floor stopped her. She glanced down to find herself standing in a puddle of some red liquid.
  "W-what is this?"
  "Mommy, the fire alarm is going off!" Mina looked in the direction of her children. Skye seemed to have missed everything since they had left the apartment.
  Gorast moved swiftly and effectively, wrapping her arm around Mina's throat and covering her mouth with her other hand. Mina thrashed about, trying to break free or cause some noise, but Gorast held her away from the desk until she went limp. Gorast dropped the unconscious Mongoose. She could hear the sounds of the two kids in a small room off to the side. She took special care into shifting herself into the form of the childrens' mother. Remembering what was in the room, Gorast's pace quickened.
  Melody was reading a book to Skye, hoping to take his mind off the monster. She knew better than to be scared. Daddy would keep them safe. A couple pages into the book, Melody noticed Skye wasn't paying attention. She poked him in the arm.
  "I'm reading to you. Hello, it's rude to ignore me." She waved the book in his face for emphasis. He continued looking to the other end of the room. She sighed and shook her head. "Whatever, but it's not my fault if you grow up to be illiterate."
  Skye stood and headed for the other end of the room. He jumped up on the neat row of chairs and peered over the back. Melody jumped when her brother yelped and ran back towards the lobby. Their mother blocked his path before he could escape. He grabbed her arm and clung to it, starting to cry.
  Melody walked over, putting on an insulted look. "Skye's freakin' out over nothing." She watched in annoyance as her mother gently stroked Skye's cheek. "And now he's hogging all the love..."
  There was a solid thud as the two children's heads came together. They flopped senseless on the floor. Gorast grabbed them by their collars and hauled them to the desk, tossing them under it where they wouldn't be seen. If Radiak couldn't kill Miles, she was sure a few hostages could lure the Fox into a trap. A fully powered Makuta was far more dangerous than any shriveled Matoran.
